{"id":295,"date":"2016-09-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-29T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/baronedefensefirm.lawblogger.net\/blog\/prosecutor-challenges-one-year-jail-sentence-for-drunk-driving\/"},"modified":"2022-10-04T13:50:41","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T17:50:41","slug":"prosecutor-challenges-one-year-jail-sentence-for-drunk-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.baronedefensefirm.com\/blog\/prosecutor-challenges-one-year-jail-sentence-for-drunk-driving\/","title":{"rendered":"Prosecutor Challenges One-Year Jail Sentence for Drunk Driving Causing Death Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Michigan, a charge of drunk driving causing death is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.\u00a0 This possible sentence is set forth in Michigan Complied Laws 257.625(4)(a). \u00a0In determining exactly what sentence to impose for an individual case a judge will be looking at many factors, including the Michigan Sentencing Guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>A recent case dealing with this issue is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michbar.org\/file\/opinions\/appeals\/2016\/091516\/63553.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">People v. Taylor<\/a>.\u00a0 In this particular case the defendant Taylor was found guilty of drunk driving causing death.
