{"id":394,"date":"2017-11-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-02T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/baronedefensefirm.lawblogger.net\/blog\/medical-marijuana-dispensaries-to-stay-open-pending-licensing\/"},"modified":"2025-01-08T14:38:12","modified_gmt":"2025-01-08T18:38:12","slug":"medical-marijuana-dispensaries-to-stay-open-pending-licensing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.baronedefensefirm.com\/blog\/medical-marijuana-dispensaries-to-stay-open-pending-licensing\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical Marijuana Dispensaries to Stay Open Pending Licensing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a surprise move, Michigan\u2019s Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation (BMMR) reversed its prior decision and had now declared in a press release that they will allow currently existing marijuana dispensaries to continue operating provided they have local approval.\u00a0 Furthermore, that such operations will not impact the applicant&#8217;s eligibility for licensure.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the 2016 amendments to Michigan\u2019s Medical Marijuana Act, the only way for a card holding medical marijuana patient to obtain marijuana was to either grow it him or herself or to purchase it from a \u201ccaregiver.\u201d The trouble was, there were no rules surrounding the lawful sale and purchase of medical marijuana, and therefore, it was not, strictly speaking, against the law to open a dispensary.
