{"id":477,"date":"2019-01-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/baronedefensefirm.lawblogger.net\/blog\/operating-unlicensed-marihuana-facility-crime-in-michigan\/"},"modified":"2025-01-08T14:39:47","modified_gmt":"2025-01-08T18:39:47","slug":"operating-unlicensed-marihuana-facility-crime-in-michigan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.baronedefensefirm.com\/blog\/operating-unlicensed-marihuana-facility-crime-in-michigan\/","title":{"rendered":"Operating an Unlicensed Marihuana Facility Now a Crime in Michigan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Effective January 1, 2019, it is now a crime to operate a marihuana facility in Michigan without a license.\u00a0 The new law was signed by Governor Snyder on December 28, 2019 and was part of a host of changes made to the Michigan Medical Marihuana Licensing Act (MMMLA) just prior to the Governor leaving office. The new section is found at MCL 333.27407a, and provides that, depending on the type of violation, the person who unlawfully operates a marihuana facility is guilty of either a misdemeanor or a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>The Michigan Medical Marihuana Licensing Act creates five different kinds of marihuana licenses.\u00a0 The term \u201cmarihuana facility\u201d is defined as a location at which a licensee is licensed to operate under this act. This term therefore includes a facility where marihuana is grown, processed, tested or sold (provisioned).
